Etsy Sale, Being Thankful and a Coupla Pictures

Busy week, huh?  One blogger was talking about our “death march to Christmas” and sometimes it kinda feels that way.  To me, anyway!  Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely LOVE this time of year!  However, Thanksgiving is slowly but surely getting edged out and I find that unfortunate and unacceptable.  That is not to say that I didn’t avidly read Black Friday sale papers and have a sale in my Etsy shop.  : )  (40% off the photo of your choice – use “BLACKFRIDAY40” as your coupon code.)  I won’t use this as an opportunity to get you to visit my shop (although I won’t complain if you DO want to go check it out), but I WILL say that Etsy has so many deals and bargains this weekend!  It’s a great site and there are so many unique gift options available that you’re not going to find in a massive retail chain.  Most shops that have sales tagged items with “Black Friday” or “Cyber Monday“, so it’s pretty easy to find discounts…

Ok – I’m going to move on so I don’t sound like a bloggery advertisement for myself.  : )   Switching back to the original topic of Thanksgiving and its turkey and festive family gluttony suffering in the shadow of the Christmas season —

Even though I can’t deny the allure of a turkey feast and I LOVE my after Thanksgiving sandwich, I do try to remember all the things in life I have to give thanks for.  This year was no exception although there were a few obstacles to overcome in my quest to “thank”!  I broke my favorite mixing bowl and a plastic measuring cup (how that happened, I’m still not sure), argued with my hubby about goofy things, found out we have been harboring  a mouse in our house, and sometime after midnight discovered in a fit of shivers that our heat had died.  Sounds like a holiday, right?  : )  Still, recognizing the wonderful things I have and giving thanks helps put the icky moments into perspective.  Perhaps if we all made it a daily practice to note at least one of our blessings it would bring more joy to life.

Today I’m thankful someone read this… I hope you’re glad you read it too!

Sounds kinda corny, huh?  Well – deal with it ’cause it’s sincere!  : )  To wrap it up, I’m posting a few of the pictures I took in the past couple of weeks.  Enjoy!

First batch of popovers I have ever baked~

I love blue Christmas ornaments! So when I took this picture I added it to my Etsy shop in case other people do too... 🙂

  1. Wonderful photos!

I agree about the whole ‘Thanksgiving is rushed’ concept. It seems that even before Halloween, holiday sales and decorations were already up in stores. Too soon. Waaaaaay too soon. I LOVE Christmas but HATE the commercialization. We try to keep things simple this time of year. I wish stores would follow suit and not make me feel like I am missing out!

    1. Those are my feelings exactly! I fight the commercialization as much as possible, but there really are times that I feel like I’m missing out! And even though it drives most people crazy to be in stores before Christmas, I actually enjoy the lights and the music. : ) It’s one of my favorite times of year and I’m doing my best to find a balance and just enjoy the real reasons it’s so special.

      Thanks for the comment!
